The Regal Rabbit, the premier kitchen and gourmet food store in Chesterton, IN, also hosts a series of cooking classes covering a wide variety of themes. 

With a fully stocked kitchen including Swiss Diamond cookware, Wusthof cutlery and Kyocera ceramic cutlery, dinner and stemware, we can accommodate up to 10 people in the classes. 

We invite you to explore the art & craft of cooking while you're enjoying a night out with friends, learning new recipes and enjoying the freshly prepared food. 

Our chefs come to us from many local restaurants and clubs, including, Grand Kankakee Restaurant, Rittenhouse Senior Living in MC and Long Beach CC.

All classes include a 10% discount on merchandise purchased on the day of the class.

Wednesday, February 10   6:30 pm

Come create a little Mardi Gras Madness! This lesson shows how you can create a great party of your own! Come to learn Shrimp Etouffee; Gumbo with Red Beans, Rice & Smoked Sausage; Creole Fried Chicken. Dessert will be Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding.

Make a plan with your partner to join us & be part of creating this delicious gourmet meal.  When preparations are complete, we’ll enjoy our food with a sampling of wine.  The lesson will begin with French Onion Soup and Gruyere Croutons,.  The entrée is Herb Crusted Filet Mignon with wild rice; Roasted Tomato, Zucchini and Eggplant with Boursin cheese. And for dessert, we’ll have a little crème brulee with caramel banana rum sauce.

If you love Fish but don't often cook it, come learn the secrets to successful Fish preparation at home. Our lesson teaches Shrimp Provencal with Grilled Tomato Bread; Grilled Mahi-Mahi with Mango Lime Salsa; Nut-crusted Orange Roughy & Roasted Asparagus; & Asian Balsamic Salmon with wild rice.

 

A Taste of Northern Italy                 $45

Take a quick trip to Northern Italy & learn about the flavors & styles of this uniquely wonderful food. Our adventure begins with Pearl Barley Soup; Wild Mushroom Risotto Cakes with White Truffle Oil & Shaved Parmesan; & Chicken Cacciatore with creamy Polenta. Dessert will be a lemon gelato.

For all who eat little or no meat at all, or cook for those who do, here are lots of great meatless recipes. Our lesson teaches White Veggie Pizza; Three Mushroom Risotto with Truffle Oil & Shaved Parmesan; Mascarpone Polenta with Classic Caponata; Orzo Salad with Roasted Shallots, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Artichokes & Olives with Feta Vinaigrette & Madeira Glazed Portabella Steak Sandwiches.

Learn to master this quick-cook method while creating wonderful Asian flavors. Our combination class includes a hands on lesson on rolling our own sushi.  Then we’ll move on to the chef’s demonstration of Chicken Satay Stir-fry with Orange scented Jasmine Rice; Stir-fried Pork Fried Rice and Shrimp & Snow Pea Stir-fry.

 

Around the World of Teas              $10

Do you have a lot of questions about tea, and in particular about the health aspects of green and red tea? This is the class that will answer your questions.  We’ll talk about all of the health aspects of green tea and red tea, why white tea is so special and what is fair trade certified tea.  We’ll sample a variety of teas and maybe a few scones to go along.
